What is that we seek?
Perhaps, our Purpose in Life?
The first two are like moon…the more we chase them the farther they seem to move away.
No matter how much money we have, we still want more.
So how about seeking…
Hmm.. but what is abundance?
For starters, it is the opposite of scarcity.
Abundance is not about the quantum of wealth.
Abundance is about mindset.
Remember ‘Zomato happy rider’ with the ‘viral smile’!?
The Zomato Delivery Rider happy with the ₹350 he earns per day, feels excited with the perk of getting to eat the orders that get cancelled.
His Happiness Quotient is almost addictive. You can’t help feel a ray of hope in your heart when you see him talk excitedly about his Rs350 per day work.
He comes from a place of Abundance.
My aaji (grandmother), used to go door-to-door selling ‘Home-made-Papad’.
Every time aaji would put papads to dry in the sun, my sister and I would tip-toe to the backyard and eat the half dried papads. Aaji would come chasing after us. As we would giggle and hide, we could hear her say, “What am I going to sell now”.
Aaji had no strategy, no plans and no concept of “Return on Investment”.
Her Business plan was to go visit people, sit and chat with them, have a cup of tea and if they wanted, they could buy the papads that she had brought with her.
Many years later I asked her why she had stopped making papads. “You guys no longer eat the half-dried papads”, she said.
IT WAS THEN THAT I UNDERSTOOD THAT HER RETURN ON INVESTMENT WAS HAPPINESS.
Her happiness in having some fun time with her grandchildren.
Her happiness in meeting new people, listening to their stories and sharing few of her own.
Aaji came from a PLACE OF ABUNDANCE.
Because I have never seen anyone richer than her.
She was always ready to help others no matter how less she herself possessed.
She would stuff a crumpled 10 rupee note in our hands and would wink and tell us that we could buy whatever we wanted to.
I think her sense of abundance came from self-faith that she was Enough! That WHAT SHE HAD was enough!
Our brain is wired to operate out of a place of scarcity and fear. Given the present COVID19 situation, I am not suggesting you live in a state of denial.
I am simply saying have faith in yourself no matter how incomplete or incompetent or helpless you might feel right now. To suit changing times, Skill can be acquired.
But you need to trust yourself, that you are complete in yourself. You are capable of making impactful things happen.
YOU have the choice of what you want to focus on.
How about we choose to live in a beautiful state of mind every single day, no matter what happens!
How about we choose to Believe that we are complete: अहं पूर्णास्मि !
The Sanskrit phase, “AHAM PURNASMI” means I AM COMPLETE !
Remind yourself you are complete the way you are. What you have is enough.
